A shift in perspective radically changes the use of objects and ideas – and that is entrepreneurship.
[From a presentation of John Saddington, given at the Platform Conference. Quoted at SPI 061 : Successful Startups and the Entrepreneurial Mindset with John Saddington]
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present.
Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
It was character that got us out of bed, commitment that moved us into action and discipline that enabled us to follow through.
Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.
Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
The leaders who work most effectively, it seems to me, never say ‘I’. And that’s not because they have trained themselves not to say ‘I’. They don’t think ‘I’. They think ‘we’; they think ‘team’. They understand their job to be to make the team function. They accept responsibility and don’t sidestep it, but ‘we’ gets the credit…. This is what creates trust, what enables you to get the task done.
…leaders are made, not born, and made more by themselves than by any external means. Second . . . that no leader sets out to be a leader per se, but rather to express himself freely and fully.
